Past Experience

Oliver

Web Application Developer (Vodafone On-site)

October 2015 - Present

OLIVER provides clients with dedicated agencies. Oliver believe the traditional agency model is not fit for the speed of modern marketing. Businesses want, and rightly demand, the same quality of strategic and creative thinking the traditional agency provides, but at a speed that befits how they now work. The traditional agency outside-in model means that huge quantities of time are wasted in the back and forth and linear processes between agencies and clients. OLIVER agencies come to the client, live inside their office and solve their problems collaboratively.

I work in the .NET development team that handles all of Vodafone internal Intranet Applications from developing new projects using a range of technologies from MVC and AngularJs to migrating old applications into .net

Capita Software Services

November 2014 - September 2015

Capita, is an international business process outsourcing and professional services company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is the largest business process outsourcing and professional services company in the UK.

Capita works across eight markets - local government, central government, education, transport, health, life and pensions, insurance, and other private sector organisations (including financial services).

Capita’s complete housing solution is used throughout the UK in over 40% of social housing organisations, each managing between 500 and 54,000 properties.

My day to day role was to help develop additional functionality for a Mobile working solution for housing Sector based on user requirements to extend the system, this was a two step process, developing ‘Adapters’ - special data interfaces in C# .NET that processes information from a backend system into a mobile friendly format (called a visit) and processing completed data from a mobile ‘visit’ so the data is processed and is stored in the back office.

I worked on a few new features for the system by developing:
  • Configurable (End User designable via xlts) HTML reports to be past to the mobile device
  • Procedure to allow fully designable SSRS reports to be generated to the mobile device
  • Configurable mechanism to allow description labels to be customisable on data sent to mobile device

I also took the initiative in certain problem areas which I have identified while working for Capita and I attempted to develop diagnostic tools to make the situation easier I wrote a new Support Ticket Generation tool to be used by clients and technical consultants on site to pull all required debugging information from log files and message databases, package them into a single zip file and have that zip file easy to attach to an email or to send directly to the support portal. The Application collects information on application log files, web service logs, windows and database diagnostic, down to xml data from individual visits.
I also wrote an application that analysed and compared data entry forms that are sent to and completed on mobile device - this was ensure that any client changes to a data entry form would be highlight to aid debugging of forms which may have had mandatory content removed or moved. In this application, i included the ability for users to download the latest versions of the data entry forms directly to the application by developing a forms repository system - that also hooked directly in a 3rd party JSON web service to retrieve the required information. This also controlled access to specific forms depending on which solution licenses the user had.

    Tango

Tango.co.uk main campaign hub website was an centralised hub for linking and promoting all marketing campaigns that Tango were running also formed the main Tango soft drink website between 2009 and 2011. The creative was designed by creative design agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH)

This was the first non-Adam related website-build project I worked solo on, designed in ASP.NET and CSS it was built to be fully displayable in IE6 at 1024 x 768 screen resolution without scroll bars as requested by the client. This was a Design to Web (from a creative photoshop (PSD) to ASP.NET/HTML/CSS) with data capture elements.

The Tango hub page also include a micro-site advertising for a larger can sized at 440ml called Tango with Added Tango, the first letter of each word of the slogan spelling the term TWAT, causing some 'intended controversy' at launch, which was picked up by The Sun Newspaper and even Ann Widdicombe (an MP at the time) who mentioned that “It is deeply tasteless.”
The Data Capture element was interesting as Tango key market is the Tween (9-13) and Teenage demographics, however Britvic's policy on data capture is not to store captured data on under 16 year olds - If a user selected a user-group which fell under the age of 16, they would receive a different message and have there message only anonymously sent to the Tango brand team.

    Adam Digital Asset Upgrades

This was a piece of work that upgraded to the Adam deployment based on user and administrators feedback. Including:
Faster and/or quicker searching via auto-complete and quick links

Additional upgrades on studio selection for user account management – previously only available to administrators and the added ability for end users to raise support tickets to the administrate team.

The inclusion of an easy to use ordering system that allows quick email ordering of single assets with the ability to resize the assets on the fly to the format users require.

A new administrative section (for users will permission) to each custom studio allows each developed studio to be administrated separately and aspects customised to each studios need.

Administrators can add or remove auto-suggestive words – allowing different studios to offer different words (A barcode studio could have auto-suggestive barcode numbers where as a logo studio could have brand and sub-brands). Also a feature called "Quick links", allowing five 'quick' links to appear on the first page, allowing extra fast searching via a single click which is also full customisable.
